Boat Parade

The Boat Parade will be led by the Buffalo Maritime Center’s Erie Canal boat Seneca Chief and the Buffalo Fire Department’s historic fireboat, the E.M. Cotter. Boats will depart from the Buffalo Launch Club at 11:30 a.m. and will make their way down the river to the Tonawandas’ Gateway Harbor, where the parade can be viewed on both sides of the canal at approximately noon. Boats will return to the BLC to join a day of family activities.
At Gateway Harbor the events of the day will feature live music, displays and information tables, as well as presentations, highlighting the history of the Erie Canal. Children’s activities include a Kids’ Fun Zone on the North Tonawanda side, featuring face painting, crafts and kid-friendly activity.
